Alloy 20 Bar seems to fall in-between both the stainless and nickel categories, as it does contain characteristics of both; however, the unified numbering system (UNS) does ultimately recognize it as a nickel based alloy, hence the UNS N08020 number.
Alloy 20 is an austenitic nickel-iron-chromium based alloy with additions of copper and molybdenum. Its nickel content aids in its chloride ion stress and corrosion resistance. The addition of copper and molybdenum provides resistance to hostile environments, pitting and crevice corrosion. Chromium adds to its resistance of oxidizing environments, such as nitric acid, and columbium (or niobium) reduces the effects of carbide precipitation.

Weldability:
- All commonly used welding methods, with the exception of oxyacetylene, can be successfully used.
- The presence of Columbium tends to minimize the precipitation of carbides in the heat-affected zone, so the material may be used in the as-welded condition in most cases.
- Pre-heating is not required.
Heat Treament:
- Cannot be hardened by heat treatment.
- Stabilized-annealing is done at 1750-1850°F, followed by water quenching.
- Stress relieving can be performed on annealed material up to 950°F.

Titanium Grade 2 Hexagon Bar is made up of a commercially pure titanium grade with over 99% titanium in it. The Titanium Grade 2 Hex Bar have a composition of titanium, carbon, iron, hydrogen, nitrogen and oxygen. This composition is responsible for the extreme mechanical properties of the material. The material has 344MPa minimum tensile strength and 275MPa minimum yield strength. The Titanium Hexagon Bars also have 1665 degrees Celsius melting point. This extreme melting point provides the material the space to dominate high temperature applications as well high strength applications. The applications of the Grade 2 Hex Bar include power generation, petrochemicals, gas processing, heat exchangers, pulp and paper industry, condensers and specialty chemicals. Aluminium and titanium make the Inconel 718 hardenable.
